Sled Puppies

There were sled dogs at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. We also saw a pen of puppies, all asleep except one. I used the sketch from The Sample Kit Club.

Lofty

Charlie was thrilled to see giraffes - he was too little the last time we were at this zoo so he can't remember ever seeing them. Used the sketch from Crafty Sketches.

jaws

Pictures of Charlie watching the sharks at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Sketch is from Sketches In Thyme.

Best Friends

My grandson Charlie took these pictures at the Milwaukee County Zoo and told me I had to make a layout and title it "Best Friends." I don't know that both of the spider monkeys are boys, but I used the July 20th sketch from Boys Rule.

First Tux

I didn't start scrapbooking until 2009 and my daughter was already divorced, so I didn't scrap her wedding pictures. But I did want to scrap my grandson's first tux. He wasn't in the wedding party, but when his mom found the tux on clearance she bought it. The photographer included Nick in the pictures because of the tux.

I used the July 6th sketch from Boys Rule and the color challenge (black, white and a touch of color - I used red) from Lasting Memories.

Grandma in the wild

When at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage my oldest daughter took a picture of me and commented that she got a picture of a grandma in the wild. I asked if she was sending it to her brother and sister and she said good idea. My younger daughter replied to the picture "catch her." This and a picture I took of myself in the hotel room are the only pictures of me on the trip.

The sketch is from The ScrapRoom Blog and the color inspiration from ScrapFit - workout #72.

Lucky Me

When I first found out about the Anchorage trip I made a list of places I wanted to see. On the top of the list was the Alaska Native Heritage Center, with an admission fee of nearly $25. Since the conference my daughter was attending was for Native American housing all the attendees were invited to an after hours program at the Heritage Center. My daughter asked how much is would cost for me to go along and was told guests were free since others at the conference had family members along. We were picked up at the hotel by a free shuttle, got to tour the museum and outdoor site, visit the venders, received a free buffet and saw some awesome entertainment.  Lucky me!

I used the sketch at Stuck on Sketches.

From the Air

Yet another Alaska trip layout. Sorry I can't take a straight picture. I was lucky enough to get a window seat on all three flights out and all three back. I was so excited to see mountains, a glacier and a volcano. Sketch is from Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. Hexagons are for the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog.

Award Time

I was watching my nine year old grandson yesterday and he felt I should make a layout of him. He said since the citizenship award was blue I needed blue paper and "how sweet would it be if you sewed in the buttons." So I used twine in his buttons (at the end of first grade the teacher gave the students items from the classroom and he received a huge jar of mixed buttons that came to my house so now every button is considered to have once been his.) I followed the June 8th sketch from Boys Rule. With only grandsons it has to be one of my favorite sites.

Play

I went to a Frontier League baseball game last week with my daughter and grandson. To make my layout I used the sketch from Frosted Design's Sketch Along Tuesday #44 and the colors from the Red, White and Blue challenge at Lasting Memories.
