Improve

My one little word for 2014 is improve. Figured it would be easy since even doing dishes would be an improvement of the kitchen for the day. Imagine my surprise when I realized that if I removed one set of shelves from between the dresser and desk I could not only move the desk out into the room so I could actually sit there, but also have room for the two sets of shelves that were in front of the closet. Definite improvement of my room.

I am entering this at Lasting Memories and at Scrap Warriors Advanced Training.

1st day of school

The challenge at Connie Can Crop is time, while one of the challenges at the yahoo group Scrappin and Chattin is stamping. So I get this bright idea that I will stamp a pocket watch in white on blue paper. Didn't work. So then I tried black. Worked faintly. Finally tried dark green which does show somewhat. Layout is of two of the grandsons on the first day of school.

Flowing

The challenge at Scrapping 4 Fun Challenges is to use a color that starts with the same letter as your first name plus one other color, with black, white and cream allowed as neutrals/background. I picked violet as my "v" color plus silver. Journaling is on the lower left corner of the violet paper, written in silver ink. Used silver doilies as frames and silver thickers for the title.

Take Time to Explore

I used the sketch from Once Upon A Sketch for this layout from our trip to see waterfalls last August.

Bird is the Word

I used the week 1 sketch from Let's Get Sketchy and the Lots of Color challenge from Use Your Stuff for this layout of Zach and his stuffed bird. I don't know the story of why he had it outside in winter, but will ask him and add it to the journaling, Had a terrible time taking pictures today. The red of the paper and the letters is the same as the bird, but kept coming out either washed out or hot pink.

B-day 9

Still working on Zach's album, so I used the week 2 sketch from Let's Get Sketchy for a layout of his 9th birthday. All of the strips of paper were from the scrap basket except the one layer of washi tape.

Snow Much Fun

I used the January 3rd sketch from Stuck On U Sketches for a layout of my son and his sons out on the snow. I am also entering at Red Carpet Studio for the Snow Buddies challenge.

It's back!!

Sketches in Thyme challenge blog is back and I'm so excited to share that I am now part of the creative time. This is the amazing sketch that was revealed today.

This challenged is sponsored by Scrappiness Designs and the prize will be a US$ 7 coupon for any purchase at the store.

You have one month to play along, so hop on over and link up your layout. Here is my take on the sketch.

Jude

My great-nephew was born 13 weeks early when his mama's water broke.Only 2 lbs. 10 oz. at birth in November he is almost 5 lbs. now and ready to go home. I used the sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap, plus the following challenges:

Red Carpet Studio - use something new. I used a charm from a package I just received, opened a new package of blue pearls, and used the picture window die I received for Christmas.

Scrapping 4 Fun - challenge 8 - baby theme

Lessology - use a key and one upcycled item. I used the heart and key charm and upcycled the old ledger page as a patterned paper / journaling spot.

White Christmas Tree

I've always wanted a white Christmas tree and this summer found one at a yard sale. I love the look of the blue and silver decorations and wish I could have found blue lights with white wires, but the white lights worked fine also. The challenge at Scrap It Girl is to use a shining star and I couldn't stop at just one.

Pumpkins

Used the January 1st sketch from Sketch N Scrap for another layout of my grandson. Will eventually have an album for each of the six boys. Since these aren't my pictures or adventures I am going to have him add (or at least dictate) some journaling the next time he is over.

Splash

The challenge at Lasting Memories is to make a layout based on this sketch from 2 Broke Girls and add your favorite embellishment. I am working on an album for my grandson and love his excitement in this picture. Added a banner, some washi tape (no, I don't have way too many colors/designs) and some gold squares.

New Year

I never thought I would do project life pages, but then three things happened in the first two days of 2014 that I wanted to remember, but didn't feel each needed a separate layout. My grandson and his friend were together at midnight at the first New Year's powwow, Michigan State won the Rose Bowl (my oldest daughter is a big fan) and the cat that was last home the end of March (after being gone for nine months that time too) came home for two days. I am entering this in Stuck On U Sketches' challenge of 3 label strips on a project life page.

Sweetness

My niece has four grandsons and finally got a granddaughter. Since I have grandsons I enjoy being able to occasionally use girly goodies. I love this sketch from Artful Delight and at first was going to use twine as the circle and stars as the splatter. Then while "shopping" in my stash I found the star paper and lace. I added sequins as splatter and a silver baby buggy charm for sparkle.

I am also entering this in the Sketches in Thyme design team call.  So excited to see this challenge blog re-opening.
