Everlasting Memories

I was the Challenge #19 winner at Scrapping4Fun Challenges this summer. Now all the winners since May are taking part in the Grand Prize Challenge. I was given the sketch below and made a layout from a trip to North Carolina earlier this month. It was the first time I saw the Atlantic.

You can vote for me by leaving a comment at Scrapping4Fun with the words 03-Vicki. Thanks.

So Proud

I used the sketch from Colorful Creations and the challenge (3 patterned papers, 1 sentiment/title, 2 buttons and twine) from Let's Scrap Sketches for this layout of my son. In case you can't tell, I am extremely proud of him.

Life lived

The current Project Life challenge at Stuck on U Sketches is to use twine.  After embellishing the polka dot card with twine I felt the dragonfly card needed twine too.

Coaster Crazy

Summer in T.C.

The Project Life challenge at Stuck on U Sketches is summer. Well in Traverse City summer means National Cherry Festival.  Work always manages to get in the way (especially this year when the company decided to do inventory again) but I did manage to see the Blue Angels, a movie at the Bijou, the Lego exhibit at the History Center and lunch at Chili's.

Project Life - 4th of July

There was nothing else noteworthy for the week but the 4th of July made up for that. Stuck On U Sketches PL challenge is to use buttons. I found some red star buttons that made perfect accents for this week.

New Shirt

I used the sketch from Stick It Down for this layout of my grandson. His mom had a t-shirt made for him with his b-boy name Digz. I am also entering this at Craft Hoarders Anonymous for the use a tag challenge and at Scrapping4Fun for the anything goes challenge.

I Heart America

I made this 4th of July layout for The Paper Girls red, white and blue challenge. My phone can be set to take six quick pictures and I love how the photos turned out. I captured launch, explosion and fade with one touch of the button. The sketch I used called for flourishes but I used twisted twine and star buttons instead.

Air Show

Time for a new challenge at Sketches in Thyme. I turned the sketch 90 degrees as my photos were horizontal. Isn't this an awesome sketch?

Project life - June 22-29th

My grandson's birthday, a new haircut and some crazy daisies growing in the driveway were the high points of this week. I am entering this at Stuck On U Sketches for the stickles/project life challenge. The centers of the yellow flowers was made with green/gold stickles.

Super Dad

The June 22nd challenge at Lasting Memories is "Bannerific" - to use a banner.  I'm very proud of all my son has accomplished this year and what a great role model he is to his sons and nephews.

dad & me

The June 8th challenge at Lasting Memories is "Wishing You Blue Skies" - to use blue and white. Fortunately the challenge doesn't end until July 4th because while I made the layout for father's day I forgot to do my blog post and enter until today. Oh how I wish there were as many pictures from then as we can take today. But I did find this photo of my dad and I taken while on vacation.

One Smart Kid

Time for another challenge at Sketches in Thyme. For challenge #127 I turned the sketch sideways to match the pictures I had. My grandson received an award for having a 3.5 or above average. Love how little brother photo bombed the picture.

Our sponsor is Scrappiness Designs. The prize is a $7.00 coupon to the store.

You have until 7/14 to enter. Hope to see you there.

Sweet Baby

The latest challenge at Scrapping 4 Fun is black and white. My daughter posted some older pictures on facebook the other day in honor of her son's 10th birthday so I printed this picture and made a baby layout. (Better late than never right?) I love adding lace and flowers and butterflies but can't usually on a boy layout.

I am also entering this at Scrap It Girl (Things with Wings) and at Pinque Peacock (Anything Goes).

She Did It

Followed the sketch at Stuck On U Sketches for this layout of my daughter (finally) receiving her certification. She had to take multiple classes across the country, but all that travel has paid off. I'm so proud of her. My pictures are too large to fit the 5 in the sketch so I modified a little and made it my own. The background is made with a stencil. Used liquid pearls and water instead of paint. The cardstock is a muted red, not the rose it appears in the photo. Too much light and the colors don't look right, too little light and the photos don't show right. Maybe someday I'll get a perfect picture.

Project Life - Remember

The challenge at Stuck On U Sketches is to use yellow on a project life page. I usually have a hard time with titles but with a 20th birthday, Memorial Day, a trip to the cemetery and a trip to the Museum is was a week full of remembering times past.

Wings

The song for the challenge at A Song in Your He{ART} is Gift of Wings by Jack Grunsky.

My layout is of my grandson at the Wings Butterfly garden on Mackinac Island. My journaling includes the first verse lyrics starting on the bottom middle and going up and around to the lower right. I used three different butterfly punches and liquid pearls. Title is Thickers.

Sponsor for this challenge is Inky Impressions.

Hope to see your entry.

Gift of Wings lyrics (Jack Grunsky)

Show me days of wonder
New roads to travel on
Help me make discoveries
Teach me a brand new song
Show me where I come from
So much to realize
Show me where I’m going to
And open up my eyes

If you will take me heart
If you will teach me all these things
You’re giving me the gift of wings

Show me all the beauty
Everywhere to see
Open up the gate
Set my imagination free
Teach me to express myself
In many different ways
Build my sense of worthiness
For all of my days

Help me find my colours
Help me bring them to the light
So that I may paint my dreams
Strong and beautiful and bright
Teach the joy of learning
To make the magic last
I’ll take into the future
All the love in my past

Miderman Boof

Hi everyone. It's time for the next challenge from Sketches in Thyme.  Instead of posting a sketch this time you are invited to use any sketch of your liking.

I used Sketches In Thyme sketch #52 for a layout of my grandson being Spiderman. Boof was his word for hit.

Thanks for looking and hope you play along.

Let's Hear It...

The song for the challenge at A Song in Your He{ART} is Let's Hear It For the Boy. I made this layout of my son's college graduation.

Journaling says "It's not easy to give your all to wife, sons, a full time job and earn a bachelor's degree, but you did. Let's hear it for the man."

Our sponsor for this time's challenge is Eureka Stamps. Your have until May 27th to upload your entry here. Can't wait to see what you make.

I am also entering this layout at Catherine & Cathy Create for the challenge to use stars.

"Let's Hear It For The Boy"

My baby, he don't talk sweet
He ain't got much to say
But he loves me, loves me, loves me
I know that he loves me anyway
And maybe he don't dress fine
But I don't really mind
'Cause every time he pulls me near
I just wanna cheer
Let's hear it for the boy
Oh, let's give the boy a hand
Let's hear it for my baby
You know you gotta understand
Oh, maybe he's no Romeo
But he's my lovin' one-man show
Oh, whoa, let's hear it for the boy
My baby may not be rich
He's watchin' every dime
But he loves me, loves me, loves me
We always have a real good time
And maybe he sings off-key
But that's alright by me, yeah
'Cause what he does, he does so well
Makes me wanna yell
Let's hear it for the boy
Oh, let's give the boy a hand
Let's hear it for my baby
You know you gotta understand
Oh, maybe he's no Romeo
But he's my lovin' one-man show
Oh, whoa, let's hear it for the boy
'Cause every time he pulls me near
I just wanna cheer
Let's hear it for the boy
Oh, let's give the boy a hand
Let's hear it for my baby
You know you gotta understand
Oh, maybe he's no Romeo
But he's my lovin' one-man show
Oh, whoa, let's hear it for the boy
(Let's hear it for the boy)
Let's hear it for my man
(Let's hear it for my babe)
Let's hear it for my man...
(Let's hear it for the boy)
(Let's hear it for my babe)
(Let's hear it for the boy)
Let's hear it for my man, yeah...
(Let's hear it for my babe)
(Let's hear it for the boy)
Pull yourself together
(Let's hear it for my babe)
(Let's hear it for the boy)
Whoa, let's hear it for my boy
(Let's hear it for my babe)
Let's hear it for my man
(Let's hear it for the boy)
(Let's hear it for my babe)
Let's hear it for my man

Great Day

The song for this time's challenge at A Song In Your He{ART} is Great Day to Be Alive by Travis Trill. For my layout I took the lyrics

"And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?"

A cousin and his wife are commercial fishers. Lake Michigan froze over in the past winter that seemed to never end. His wife took this picture on the day they could finally get back out on the water. For them it was truly a great day.

Hope you play along.

Great Day to be Alive lyrics (Travis Tritt)

I got rice cooking in the microwave
Got a three day beard I don't plan to shave
And it's a goofy thing but I just gotta say
Hey I'm doing alright
Yeah I think I'll make me some homemade soup

Feelin pretty good and that's the truth
It's neither drink nor drug induced
No I'm just doin alright
And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?
It's been fifteen years since I left home
Said good luck to every seed I'd sown
Give it my best and then I left it alone
Oh...I hope their doin alright
Now I look in the mirror and what do I see?
A lone wolf there starin back at me
Long in the tooth but harmless as can be
Lord I guess he's doin alright

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?
Sometimes it's lonely
Sometimes it's only me
And the shadows that fill this room
Sometimes I'm fallin
Desperately callin
Howlin at the moon...
Ahwoo!
Ahwoo!
Well I might go get me a new tattoo
Or take my old Harley for a three day cruise
Might even grow me a Fu Man Chu...
Oh Aww!
And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?
And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

Kissing baby

His cousins couldn't help teasing tribal council candidate Mark when he was caught on camera kissing a cousin's new baby. I used the April 25th sketch from Stuck On U Sketches.

Love Blooms

The challenge at Craft Hoarders Anonymous is to use the sketch with a twist - use one old item and one new item.  My oldest item is the doily - it takes a long time to use an entire package of 20. The newest item is the fence. I bought that die a couple weeks ago and LOVE it.  The papers and flowers are Recollections from Michaels. The washi tape is from the dollar store.

1 Big Bunny

My cousin wanted to make her granddaughter's Easter special, so she used a wading pool as a basket and a hula hoop as the handle and then filled it up with goodies.

I used the sketch from Stuck?! and the photo challenge from Catherine and Cathy Create.

{16}

I used the sketch from Stuck On U Sketches as inspiration for this layout of Charlie's 16th birthday. His facial expressions are a riot.

1955

I was so excited to find this photo online - my father-in-law's uncle, niece and grandmother.  I used the sketch from Colorful Creations and the challenges from Connie Can Crop (pastels and polka dots - the pink paper), Red Carpet Studios (Easter or pastels) and Scrap Our Stash (spring colors). I'm happy to say that both the lace and flower ribbon have only tiny pieces left which I will use or toss this week. Feels good to finally use all of something.

Happy

The challenge at A Song In Your He{ART} is the song "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. Since I'm still working on an album for my grandson, I scrapped this picture of him on vacation with his happy smile.  Used a pre-made banner and a piece of chevron paper. Punched the butterflies from the same patterned paper. The title is Thickers.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Beccy's Place, home to the most amazing digital designs.

Check out what my design team sisters have made and be sure to link your "Happy" project.  I've included the lyrics below.

"Happy"

It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way

Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time
Here’s why
Hey, come on
(happy) Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
My level's too high
Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
I said (let me tell you now)

Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
My level's too high
Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
I said

Hey, come on
(happy) Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down… my level's too high…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)

Come on

You and I

It's time for another awesome sketch reveal at Sketches in Thyme. This was such a fun sketch to work with - perfect for the 12x12 die cut I've been hoarding. I used some of my favorite embellies - butterflies, flowers (two layers of paper flowers with a rose glues in the center) and the picture wheel die cut.

This challenged is sponsored by Scrappiness Designs and the prize will be a US$ 7 coupon for any purchase at the store.  Check out what my design team sisters have made. Hope to see your entry.

Logan

I used the sketch from Creative Scrappers for inspiration for this layout of my youngest niece going to her first dance.

I also used the photo inspiration from Pixels and Paper - the greens and blues and girls dressed up; and the challenge from Pinque Peacock - flowers.
