April Fool's Blog Hop

Welcome to It's A Joy 2 Scrap's April Fool's Day Blog Hop! I hope everyone is having a fantastic Friday! If you came here from Elaine , you are in the right place. However, if you happened upon my blog, please head over to It's A Joy 2 Scrap's blog you don't miss any of the fun.
For this hop, we were asked to create a project that "tricks the eye," or to make a spring project is nothing came to mind. I couldn't think of anything tricky so I made a spring mobile.
I used the April Showers cricut cartridge to cut the words Welcome Spring.

I used the Martha Steward butterfly punch and made 16 butterflies. I used the one inch xyron to add adhesive to 8 of the butterflies.

I used six pound fishing line and placed it between two of the butterflies (one with adhesive, one without).

I attached the ends of the fishing line to the Welcome Spring header and added another piece of line to use to hang the mobile. I hung it in my room. Right now the breeze comes from the heater vent, but soon will come from the open window. When I looked at it hanging I realized I did make a tricky project since the fishing line is nearly invisible and the butterflies appear to be flying.

Yum

The sketch is #113 from The Scrappiest. The pictures are of me, age 3. The journaling says "Who cares about pictures when there are cookies to eat." I've also entered this in Sketches In Thyme's challenge to use any sketch.

The Paper Variety - Sweet Sounds

The challenge this week at The Paper Variety is tic tac toe - include three of the items above across, up/down or diagonally. I picked the bottom line across - layout, bird and scallop for this layout of my grandson. Adding glimmer mist to the chipboard bird made it warp a little but live and learn. Of course I had to add bling - the bird's eye and the notes.

The Scrappiest #112

I know - a fourth post from me in one day. No I didn't make all these layouts this morning. I made these over the last few days and finally got around to entering them in the challenges. This sketch is from The Scrappiest. You know those blurry motion pictures you don't know what to do with, but don't want to throw away, well I used one of Charlie jumping into the pool for this layout. I went to cricutsearch.com and looked up water, wave and splash to find cricut cartridges with just the right designs. (Took three different cartridges.) If you haven't tried cricutsearch.com head on over.

Sketchy Thursday entry - 3.24 sketch

For the sketch at Sketchy Thursday I made a layout of my grandson and my son playing on the floor. I was able to determine the month as October because "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" is playing on the TV in the background.

Papercraft Star entry - Loves to swim

The challenge at Papercraft Star this week is to use the sketch above. I turned the sketch and made a layout of my grandson swimming. He is so happy when we get a poolside room.

In the Mist

The challenge at Lasting Memories this week is to use the receipe - 1 die cut, 2 brads, 3 layers. I made a layout of my husband and I wearing stylish plastic raincoats on a boat trip at Niagara Falls.

{bird}

While checking into the hotel last month we heard chirpping from a room off the lobby. Here is Charlie checking out the cockatiels. This layout is based on the March 8th sketch at The Scrap Room blog.

Welcome to a new Baby

The challenge at Crafting with Cristina is to use Hot Pink, Orange and White. The colors are much brighter in reality. Last week I made layouts with pictures of the children of two of my nieces. This layout is of another niece's grandchildren. Wow I feel old.

Noel

I know, everyone is excited about spring and here I am making a Christmas layout. I'm just a little slow at getting my pictures printed. The layout is for the sketch challenge at The Paper Variety.

Lucky in Love

The challenge at Lasting Memories this week is Green and White.  When I found the unopened bingo game at Goodwill picturing green and white bingo cards I knew I wanted to do a lucky layout. The photo is of my grandparents - year unknown. They were married a little over 40 years - separated only when my grandmother died. I'd say that when they found each other it was a major BINGO.

Welcome Spring

The challenge this week at Papercraft Star is to use one or more of the above colors and the theme of spring.

I made this layout of the magnolia tree that grew in my mother's yard in Wisconsin. When that tree bloomed is was truely spring.
