Ice caves

Challenge #176 at Lasting Memories is to make a Spring or Winter layout. The current challenge at Off the Rails Scrapbooking is to create an embellishment.

Two of my grandsons got to see what may be a "once in a lifetime experience" - ice caves. Due to the polar vortex Lake Michigan froze and the wind and waves formed caves along the shore. Hopefully the bitter cold won't come back every year and/or for so many days - meaning the caves won't form and the lake won't freeze over.

Once I found the green and white snowflake paper I needed embellies to match. Grabbed some chipboard snowflakes, a bottle of liquid pearls and a wet paint brush. After allowing time to dry I added a gem to each flake. I also used some white fabric thickers and painted those with liquid pearls as well. Who says I can't have bling and sparkle on boy pages. LOL

Pizza Love

I used the sketch from Grand Diva's Creative Corner, and the word Love from Kristi B. and for the challenge at Red Carpet Studio.

Fun

Used the sketch from Stuck?! for inspiration for this layout of my son and daughter-in-law. The green paper is from a "stained glass" kit I purchased to use as stencils.

Magic Music

It's finally here. The first challenge from A Song In Your He{ART}. The song for challenge #1 is Unfinished Songs by Celine Dion.

I chose the lines "Life's like music. There's so much still unsung. Make it magic. There's so much still to come." and created a layout of my son on vacation in Oregon.

I used shades of silver and blue to match the waterfall.

Sponsors for this challenge are The Stamping Boutique and Green Goddess Creations.

Now head on over to A Song in Your He{ART} to see what the rest of the design team has created. Hope you can join us. Can't wait to see your creations.

Tranquil

I used sketch #50 from Sketch-N-Scrap for this layout of my daughter-in-law in Oregon. Sorry about the picture. Had a lot of trouble with the text on the tag getting washed out, the brown and white flowers looking entirely white and the journaling on the music paper on the right not showing at all.

Dalton - See You Grow

Here's my take on Sketch #123 from Sketches in Thyme.  My one little word for this year is IMPROVE and I am trying to improve my layouts by using more of my stuff - in this case lots of embellishments.

Here's the sketch. Isn't it great?

The challenge is sponsored by Scrappiness Designs

Now head over to Sketches in Thyme and see what my talented creative team sisters have for you. Hope you will play along.

Happiness

The challenge at Craft Hoarders Anonymous is "What's Your Style?".  I had to think for awhile since my style seems to change. I came to realize that using butterflies and bling is a style, and something I love to use. The pictures are of my son and daughter-in-law on vacation in Oregon.

I used the February scrapbook kit from Artful Delight for this layout.

Delight Captured

I used the February scrapbook kit and the sketch from Artful Delight for this layout of my niece. These are her senior pictures and match so well with the papers in the kit.

Project Life - Happy

This is my happy week - my birthday and valentine's day. We had a party for my youngest grandson. On tv I watched both the Westminster dog show and the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.

The project life challenge at Stuck On U Sketches is hearts cut out. I found the bible verse heart online, printed and cut it out, then cut a slightly larger silver heart as a mat. Then layered on a doily heart.

I am also linking to Scrap It Girl for the heart challenge.

2013

I used the January 31st sketch from Stuck On U Sketches for this layout of my grandson playing basketball.

Project Life February 2 to 9

The Project Life challenge at Stuck On U Sketches is to add embossing. I'm enjoying doing PL pages far more than I expected because I can make mini layouts in each pocket and use a multitude of materials and techniques on one page. For the journaling pocket I used a journal card, washi tape and embossed cardstock.

Surf's Up

When I saw this color combo from Color Me Scrappy I thought warm weather and water. I had planned to use more of the darker blue until I found the picture of my daughter and grandson with the greener sky and water. The background paper is blue and orange - sorry it looks so washed out in the picture.

I turned the sketch to the right to accommodate the horizontal photo. Couldn't find the orange twine so I used buttons instead. (I'll probably find the twine tomorrow.)

Love A Parade

My daughters and their sons watching a 4th of July parade in 2010. Used the sketch from Let's Get Sketchy - week 1 for this layout. All items from my stash - the papers are a couple years old - yeah for using my stuff.
