The Sea

When I found the butterfly for 50 cents at a thrift store I knew it would be perfect for the week 4 sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. The photo is of the Oregon coast. I used silver cardstock for the banner, silver washi tape and a piece of gray paper under the blue stained glass paper. The title is thickers.

Picture Perfect

I followed the sketch from Stuck On U Sketches for a layout of the Picture Rocks on Lake Superior.

Alger Falls

I combined the sketch from Artful Delight and the embossing challenge from Frosted Designs for this waterfall layout.  I actually embossed a piece of green cardstock before I knew what I was going to use it for. When I decided to use this sketch I just punched out a couple of circles and the butterflies from the embossed paper. The thickers I used for the title are also embossed but hard to see in the picture. In real life the texture on the letters keeps the title from blending into the background.

The waterfalls is right on the road, so we passed it every time we drove from the hotel into town and back.

A Look Under

I was a little stumped by the coloring of the photos taken from the glass bottom boat and couldn't find a patterned paper that would work. Ended up using black cardstock, green washi tape, black arrow washi tape, silver letters and old anchor buttons. The buttons originally had a shank but my grandson flatten them with a hammer.  I am linking this to the Scrap Your Story "use arrows" challenge.

1st Stop

The challenge this week at Lasting Memories is Stars and Stripes. I used brown, grey and black for my stars and stripes. We decided to stop before taking the Mackinac bridge to the Upper Peninsula to take pictures and "touch" Lake Huron. In all the times I've crossed the bridge I can't remember if we ever went down by the water. The background paper is red like Charlie's shirt even though it looks rosy here.

Horseshoe Falls

This layout follows the sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap. I'm sorry if it isn't straight, but the angled papers made it hard to hold the phone straight for the photo.

Wagner falls

I used the fabulous week 1 sketch from Let's Get Sketchy for a layout from our vacation to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

feel the rush

The challenge this week at Let's Get Sketchy is Anything Goes.  I usually have a really hard time with titles, but for this picture I can "feel" the water. Photo is from my son's vacation to Oregon.
