Dancing Shoes

What's a wedding without dancing? When my friend got married in September she knew it would be a long night on her feet, so she wore tennis shoes that had been decorated in the colors (blue and purple) and theme (peacock feathers) of the wedding. I used sketch #67 from Sketches In Thyme for this layout.

He Cooks?

The challenge this week at Lasting Memories was to use a recipe, not a scrapbooking recipe, but a real recipe. I made a layout of my grandson and the time he offered to make dinner. Journaling explains how he took teriyaki marinade, cocktail sauce, honey mustard, egg beaters and a bag of frozen cauliflower out of the fridge and freezer and then stated he needed a bowl and a crock pot. His mom and I did not take him up on his offer, so I don't know how all of this would taste.

Butterfly Kisses Blog Hop

Welcome to the Butterfly Kisses Blog Hop. Today my friends and I are having a hop to celebrate Kari's one-year anniversary of her blog which is Jan 20th. You should have come here from the talented Lynne. If you just happened upon my blog please hop over to the beginning at Kari's blog so you don't miss any of the fun.

We have the best sponsors for our hop that will just blow your mind!!!
  1. Shannon Keith Leffew has a gift certificate for flowers in her Etsy Shop
  2. Creative Kuts a $20 Gift Card at http://creativekuts.com/
  3.     2 birthday cards made by her, Stamp Set from www.gettingcricky.com PLUS $10 Gift Certificate for Little Scraps of Heaven

The only requirement for this hop was to use butterflies.

For my project I made a layout of my niece's little girl. I love this picture of her looking in the mirror. To make the background I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the butterflies in pink and then used glimmer mist by Tattered Angels. I added gems in pink and green to the mask butterflies and added these to the right side of the layout. The butterflies trails are made with Imaginese gems and the i-rock. The chipboard butterfly is from my stash, the title letters from K&Co. Patterned paper is from DCWV. Dot for question mark is cut from a doily and a mirror dot is attached.

Next stop is Janet. Hop on over and see what amazing project she has created.

Congrats ladies. I have sent you emails for your mailing addresses.

Joy

My word for this year is joy. I am sure I can find joy everyday. This layout is of my grandson opening one of his gifts on Christmas. While video games and dvds make great gifts they also make a two or three inch pile of gifts under the tree - not impressive. LOL. The journaling explains how I used a large box (for size), 7 pound bag of kitty litter (for weight) and crumpled newspaper (to eliminate any shaking). I taped the video game to the inside of the box. He was pleasantly surprised.

Entire layout made from one sheet of patterned paper (from Recollections' All Season stack), one sheet of cardstock from my stash and 3 gems. This was my first attempt at making fan fold embellies and I didn't think to check you tube before starting. The cutting and folding I did okay, it's the gluing that I should have gotten instructions for before I stuck my fingers together. Title is printed on the paper.

I am entering this in:

Lasting Memories - challenge is New Year (used my "word" for the year) open until 1/21 9pm EST
The Paper Variety - challenge is to use fan fold embellishments, open until 1/27 midnight EST
Scrappin-n-chattin - challenge is to use word of the year as one word title, open until 1/31.

History in My Lifetime

If ou are here for day three of DDs Crafts Fabulous Fifty Birthday Blog Hop click here.

Welcome to the History in My Lifetime Blog Hop.

This blog hop is geared toward "History in My Lifetime", something that is prominent and will be in history books if not already there. If you came here first please start at Jamie's blog so you don't miss any of the fun. She will be offering the grand prize of 4 digi stamps from scrapbookstampsociety.com. Comment on each blog to be eligible.

I picked the first history book event that I remember, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. The journaling talks about how I was eleven and didn't really understand conspiracy theories and everything the adults were talking about, but I did understand that as sad as it was for us to lose our president, that two young children lost their dad.

Please leave a comment to be eligible for my blog candy. Your next stop is the talented Christel.

This is ME

The challenge at Lasting Memories this week is Getting to Know You. When I found this paper I knew it was perfect for a layout about me. I used the words that were pre-printed on the paper to inspire my list: Give my best, Enjoy my life, Learn from the journey, See amazing beauty every day.

All items used were won from Artful Delights. Leeanne sells the most amazing kits with enough goodies to make multiple layouts.

You can enter at Lasting Memories until 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14th.

Joy
