Too Much Road Trip

Nothing like waiting until the last minute. The challenge at The Paper Variety is to create a travel or transportation themed project and is due today at noon eastern time (one hour from when I'm posting). The pictures in the layout were taken on the way home from a three-day weekend trip to Wisconsin (over 400 miles each way). We fit a lot into the trip and everyone (except me and the driver) fell asleep at the same time.

Peaceful

The challenge this week at Lasting Memories was to use the above sketch and to show what inspires me. I used the quote "One touch of nature makes the whole world kin" from William Shakespeare and made a layout using a photo of my grandson taken on our nature walk in August. My grandsons and nature inspire me. The yellow paper used for the journaling is foFabulous Friday challenge at Frosted Designs to use notebook, ledger or book pages on a layout.

The Scrappiest - Sketch 134

This layout, based on sketch #134 at The Scrappiest is the second page of a two page layout of my grandsons on a nature walk in August.

Outdoor Fun

This layout of three of my grandsons enjoying an nature walk is based on the sketch from Stuck?! Sketches.

Daddy's Girl - Frosted Designs #22

This layout is based on Frosted Designs Sketch Along Tuesday sketch #22. The layout is of a former co-worker and her father at her wedding earlier this month.

What's Your Secret?

The challenge this week on Lasting Memories is "What's Your Secret"? I have two secrets on my layout. The first is the photo mat. It was used previously to make butterflies.

The second secret is also under the photo mat as I hide my journaling. It's the first time I've done this, but like the look.

What's your secret. Head on over to Lasting Memories to play along.

Tee Fore Two

One of the challenges at Scrappin-n-chattin this month is to use a punny title. While looking through old photos I found these of my husband and my mother on the driving range. I used sketch #133 from The Scrappiest.

Parade

This layout is of my grandson marching in the Cherry Festival parade this year. Since he is going to be a senior this year he figured he should (finally) take part in the parade. Unfortunately I am on the wrong side of the street to get better pictures.

I used this week's Sketchy Thursdays sketch.

Kurz family

This layout is the family of my dad's other sister. They used to joke that the girls (my aunts) must have had lots of monogrammed items since their maiden names began with K and both married men with K last names. This is based on bonus sketch #1 at Stuck?! Sketches.

Kaul family

The above sketch is from Sassy Lil' Sketches - week 3. I made a layout of my aunt and her family.

I feel pretty

The challenge at Once Upon A Sketch is to follow the sketch below and to use two lines from a favorite song. I chose "I feel pretty" from "Westside Story" and a photo of my grandson from last Halloween, when he made a very pretty girl.

B-ball

Take the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays...

add this week's challenge from The Paper Variety...

and this is the layout I came up with. My son and his nephews played a little basketball in May 2011.

See Ya

My grandson does not like to have his picture taken and took off as soon as he saw me. This layout is for Sassy Lil's Sketches - August week 1.

No Firearms Allowed

This layout follows sketch #167 at Creative Scrappers. My daughter, grandsons and I had a good time at Chuck E Cheese, but got the biggest laugh from the sign on the door regarding No Firearms Allowed.

Castle Rock

This layout follows the August week 2 sketch at Sassy Lil' Sketches. The pictures are of my daughter and grandson, and of the view from the top.

Something new.

The challenge this week at Lasting Memories is to try something new and go a little out of your comfort zone. My friend Dawn likes to use Liquid Pearls and since I had an untouched bottle sitting on my desk for months I decided to try it. After watching several youtube tutorials I made three butterflies using two different methods. First I use it as watercolors. Probably can't be seen on the photo, but it adds such a nice shine to the paper. Then I also used it as bling, putting some dots in the center of each butterfly and on the flower. Have to say I loved using Liquid Pearls and can see buying more colors in the future.

The layout is of my great-uncle's wedding in 1942. The couple on the right are my great-grandparents.

Wings

The challenge this week at the Paper Variety is to use the colors green, orange and yellow. The hotel we like to stay at has a room with several birds. This was my grandson's first visit there, so he took some pictures of the cockatiels.

Dreams Come True

This layout is based on Frosted Designs Sketch #21. Beulah married my dad's uncle Wendolin in 1942.

Wedded Bliss

The challenge this week at Lasting Memories is a sketch with a twist - add buttons.

This is a layout of the wedding of my grandmother's sister Margaret in 1922. I used buttons on the flowers and along the patterned paper.

Kaden's birthday

The challenge this week at The Paper Variety is to use at least 4 circles on a project. As luck would have it on I had given a circle punch and some scraps to a 7 year old earlier this week and he made grandma stacks of different colored circles.

These layouts are of my grandson's 8th birthday.

Silly

I flipped the sketch at Purple Pumpkins to create this layout of my son being silly. For those with super vision, yes it was August before we developed the Christmas photos.

Artful Delight August Challenge

This layout of my youngest sister-in-law was made following the sketch at Artful Delight. Be sure to check out her blog.
