Bestest Cousins

The challenge this week at The Paper Variety is the theme the sky's the limit. Among the things on the list to use were the sun and dragonflies. The journaling tells how my grandsons will fight and say "You're not my friend anymore." But at the end of the day they will say to each other "You're my bestest cousin."

The Tradition Continues

When I saw the sketch for Artfuldelight's Sketch Challenge #1 I knew it would be perfect for these photos. I had recently made a layout of my son, Mark, at age 4, standing in front of a tank. I need to dig out the second photo of Mark with the same tank at age 14. Recently Mark and his family were driving thru a small town and came upon a tank. He convinced his wife that he needed to stop and get photos of himself and his sons in front of the tank. While it isn't the same tank, it is a family tradition.

Majestic

The challenge this week at Papercraft Star is to make a layout or card based on one of the seven natural wonders of the world: Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, The Harbor at Rio de Janeiro, Mt. Everest, Northern Lights, Paricutin Volcano, Victoria Falls. I took my inspiration from Victoria Falls and did a layout of Niagara Falls.

Play Ball

I don't usually do two page layouts, but when I saw the current challenge at Sketchy Thursdays coupled with the amount of photos I have from the ball game everything just came together. Unfortunately the person taking the photos (my oldest daughter) isn't in any of the pictures. Isn't that how is usually goes?

The Lion King

The challenge this week at The Paper Variety was ABC with A being autumn colors; B being borders (punched or sticker) and C being cinema (use a movie title in the title or journaling.)  Since it's close to halloween I thought a layout of Nicholas as Simba from The Lion King would work for the challenge.

Papercraft Star 500 followers giveaway

Papercraft Star is having a giveaway for reaching 500 followers.  Here is their post.

"We are so thrilled here with the warm response we've received from all of our followers and we really appreciate that so many of you are going out of your way to tell other crafters about us too! The more, the more merrier is definitely the case here at Papercraft Star!

In fact, we are so excited that we know we told you that we were going to wait until we reached 500 followers to have another $25.00 Papertrey Ink or My Favorite Things (winner's choice) gift certificate drawing, but we're so close to that number now, we decided to celebrate early! This is perhaps the one time that it doesn't matter if you count your chickens before they hatch! "

Love

This layout is for Sketches In Thyme challenge #15. The photo is of my parents, aunt and uncle, taken in July 1950.

Presents

I love the sketch this week at Sketchy Thursday because it uses lots of photos. This layout is my grandson opening his birthday presents. He asked for "foot" slippers, cookies and money. Then told his brother and cousins that he would get those items because he asked for cookies for Christmas and that's what grandma got him, so grandma will get you whatever you want. Thank goodness his dad got him the dirt bike he wanted - SO not in grandma's budget.

Hey Charlie!

This is Charlie looking serious. The layout is based on sketch #46 at Creative Genealogy Scrapbooking.

Pensive

This layout is of my son. I really don't know what he is doing since I wasn't there when the picture was taken. I followed the sketch at The Paper Variety, a new challenge blog started by two dear friends, Abby and Suzanne. Check it out.

Yummy

Based on sketch #121 at Creative Scrappers this layout is of Ontario, age 3, enjoying ice cream cake at his cousin's birthday party.

Got to love a kid who normally covers his face so there are few pictures of him, but willingly poses in dirt bike goggles.

Walkin'

Hi !

This layout is based on the sketch at Sketches in Thyme #14.

While Dalton isn't waving in the pictures, Kaden and Zach were having a great time. They soon found out just how long a parade can be. Sore arms.

Royal Ride

This sketch is from Creative Genealogy Scrapbooking, sketch #45
Kaden, as prince, rode in the parade. His cousins Zach and Dalton were able to ride on the float.

Parade

This layout is based on this week's sketch at Sketchy Thursday.

Kaden's parents were excited when he was chosen prince for his school, even when reminded they would have to build a float.

Kaden

This layout is based on the Sketchy Thursday October GDT Challenge.
For the National Cherry Festival, each elementary school picks a first grader as prince and princess. This year my grandson Kaden was chosen for his school.

My messy space

Lori at Life is This has a gorgeous newly redone craft space that she is showing. She asked to see others' spaces as well, so here is mine. In the photo you can see my cardstock, cricut, drawers (with bling, cricut cartridges, doilles, embellishments), peg board (now fuller than when I took the picture) and a little of the table I work at. Yes those are dolls in tackle boxes above, below and behind the peg board - I have a collection of 400+ Kelly dolls (Barbie's little sister) and while I haven't added to the collection for over a year, I can't face packing them away yet.

Nature's Palette

The (Paper) Trail Makers Challenge due September 11th is to use 4 to 6 pictures on a single page. I used pictures from a trip to "Deadman's Hill" in 1984. Such a pretty site - might have to go again, with the children of the kids in the picture.

Old P.M.

Layout is based on the 1st September sketch at Stuck. The subject of the photo is my husband's great-grandfather, Peter Mark. Later refered to as Old P.M. He was most likely born in 1842 and died in 1926. The photo, taken in Rapid City, MI is undated.

Paradise

This layout is based on the sketch at Sketchy Thursdays, due tonight. Nothing like cutting it close. Another in the series of layouts from the trip around Lake Superior, this is Leonard at Magpie High Falls.

Papercraft Star Challenge #12

This week's challenge at Papercraft Star is to use the above photo as inspiration. I took the colors black and white with touches of yellow and blue as my base to create the layout of my son's school photo. It was an unusual year where the photographer came once in the fall for regular pictures and then again in the spring when the photo in the layout was taken. Hope he doesn't get upset about all the flowers on a boy layout.

Giveaway

Maggie on her Cutting Above blog is hosting a cricut cartridge giveaway. Check out her blog and then follow her advice to get excited and things.

Papercraft Star Challenge #11

This week's challenge at Papercraft Star is Back to School using die cuts. Since school doesn't start here until the 7th, I used pictures taken the first day of school in 2009.
